Jesus is Powerful

Series: He's not like that

Summary

Philippians 3:10

10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death;

Philippians 3:11

11 in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.

Central Truth: the power of Jesus is available to all who believe in Him.

Romans 6:4

4 “…so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.”

Ephesians 1:18-20

18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might 20 which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,

Three Confessions to Receive Christ’s Power

1. “I want it.”

Philippians 3:7

But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ.

Philippians 3:8

 More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ,

Philippians 3:10

10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death;

2. “I believe in it.”

Colossians 1:9

For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,

Colossians 1:10

10 so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;

Colossians 1:11

11 strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience;

Ephesians 3:20

20 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,

Romans 15:18

18 For I will not presume to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me, resulting in the obedience of the Gentiles by word and deed,

Romans 1:19

19 in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of the Spirit; so that from Jerusalem and round about as far as Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

Acts 1:8

but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”

Three areas we’ll find resurrection power:

-Forgiveness from Our Past

-Power in the Present

-Hope for Our Future

1 Peter 1:3

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

1 Peter 1:4

 to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,

1 Peter 1:5

 who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

3.“I’ll pay the price for it.”

Philippians 1:29

29 For to you it has been granted for Christ’s sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake,

1 Peter 2:21

21 For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps,

Colossians 1:24

24 Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I do my share on behalf of His body, which is the church, in filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions

Mark 8:34

34 And He summoned the crowd with His disciples, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.

Philippians 3:12

12 Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:13

13 Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,

Philippians 3:14

14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
